Ground-up custom homes and rebuilds, including homes rebuilt after the Palisades fire.
What's included, projects and FAQHome / Services
New homes and rebuilds, full home remodels, additions and ADUs, kitchens and baths. One licensed design-build general contractor, one contract and one project manager from the first site visit to the final walkthrough.
A general contractor is the team that turns a plan into a finished home: coordinating design, engineering and permits, scheduling every trade, ordering materials and standing behind the result. As a design-build general contractor in Los Angeles, 1 Degree Construction brings all of that under one contract, so you are not left managing the gaps between a designer, a builder and a dozen subcontractors.
Every project starts with a visit to your property and a written, line-by-line proposal: base scope, options, allowances, assumptions and exclusions. Before anything is signed we confirm each item with you, and once work begins, changes are priced and approved in writing before they are built.
Whether you are planning a new custom home, a whole-home remodel, an addition or an ADU, the process is the same, and so is the team accountable for it: one general contractor, from the first conversation to the last detail.
We have completed more than 60 renovations. Browse them in our portfolio, or read on for what each of our general contracting services includes.
Design, permits, construction and closeout under one contract. From focused remodels to ground-up homes, we handle every part of the job.
Our name comes from our attention to detail: level lines, clean reveals and details confirmed in writing before they are built.
A dedicated project manager and open communication from consultation to final walkthrough, so you always know what is happening and what comes next.

Updating older and historic Los Angeles homes with respect for their character: preserving original architectural details while bringing in modern systems, function and comfort.
Turning dim, underused basements and lower levels into bright, functional living space tailored to how you want to use it.
Converting attic space from storage into usable rooms: a bedroom, an office or a quiet reading nook under the roofline.
Landscape design for outdoor living, hardscape and planting that turn a backyard into a place to relax and entertain, designed to work with the house and the remodel.
Demolition and site clean-up, including fire debris, so a lot is ready for the next phase of construction.
Smart home installation: lighting, security and climate control integrated into the house as it is built or remodeled, so the wiring and controls are planned rather than added later.

“From the original estimate to the final completion of work David was always happy to communicate and explain what they were doing. They were always on time, clear on communication and all of them professional and with a smile. They all took great care in our home.”
Bobby W. · Kitchen remodel
“Initially, my plan was to demolish the entire house and rebuild it from scratch. 1 Degree proposed a brilliant alternative by extending the second floor and remodeling the rest of the house. I couldn’t be happier with this solution, especially considering the budget I had available.”
Kelly H. · Second-story addition
“The team’s workmanship was top-notch, and they completed the remodel within the agreed-upon timeframe.”
Lindsay G. · Bathroom remodel

A general contractor is responsible for building your project: coordinating design and engineering, processing permits, scheduling and supervising every trade, ordering materials, keeping the job on budget and standing behind the work. As a design-build general contractor, 1 Degree Construction handles all of this under one contract with a dedicated project manager.
New custom homes and rebuilds, whole-home remodels, and additions including ADUs, along with select kitchen and bathroom remodels, historic home remodeling, basements, attics, landscape design and debris removal.
Yes. Design, engineering, Title 24 and permit processing can be included in your scope. Government and agency fees, such as permit and plan-check fees, are listed separately in your proposal.
After a visit to your property you receive a written proposal with a base scope, priced options, allowances for selections you will make later, and the assumptions and exclusions behind the price. Changes are written up with their scope, price and schedule effect, and work on a change proceeds only after you approve it in writing.
It depends on the scope, permits and material selections. During planning we provide a detailed schedule, and a dedicated project manager keeps every phase on track.
Hidden conditions such as water damage, termite damage, outdated wiring or earlier work that wasn't done to code are common in older Los Angeles homes. Our proposal names the conditions we can't see and how they will be handled. If we find something, we stop that part of the work, show you photos, explain the options and price the fix in a written change order before going further.
For smaller or phased scopes it is often workable; for whole-home remodels with major systems or structural work, moving out is usually more practical. We talk it through at the consultation, plan the phasing around how you will live, and protect and seal off occupied areas.
No. We are set up to run defined, permitted construction projects with a dedicated project manager. For repairs and small fixes, a handyman or a specialty trade is usually a better match.
We are based in Studio City and build across West Los Angeles: Santa Monica, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, West Hollywood, Mar Vista, Culver City, Mid-City, Beverly Hills, Venice and Hollywood, with select projects in the San Fernando Valley.
