Why 1 Degree

One team. One process. One point of accountability.

Most remodels go wrong in the gaps: between designer and builder, estimate and contract, what was said on site and what was written down. As a licensed general contractor in Los Angeles working design-build, we close those gaps with a scope you can measure, a proposal with every assumption in writing, and a project manager who stays until the last detail is done.

  • The owners are on every job. David and Thai walk framing, check waterproofing and meet you at selections.
  • One-year warranty. Our contracts warrant our labor and workmanship for one year from substantial completion or final inspection approval, whichever comes first.
  • Licensed and insured. CSLB #1075129 (B, General Building), with general liability insurance.

How a project moves

Five steps, the same on every project. Nothing gets built until it has been confirmed in writing.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We walk your property and talk through goals, timeline and investment. Measurements and open questions are documented.

  2. 02

    Design & preconstruction

Design, engineering and Title 24 are coordinated with your budget in view, so the plan is priced as it develops.

  3. 03

    Proposal & confirmation

Base scope, options, allowances and exclusions, priced line by line. We confirm every item with you before anything is signed.

  4. 04

    Permits

We submit the plans, answer plan-check corrections and keep you updated. Agency fees are listed separately.

  5. 05

    Build & closeout

A dedicated project manager runs the job, handles changes in writing before work proceeds, and walks the finished home with you.

Deposit: California law limits a home improvement down payment to $1,000 or 10% of the contract price, whichever is less. We follow that rule on every contract.

Working with a general contractor in Los Angeles

How do I choose the right general contractor in Los Angeles?

Look for a contractor with a strong portfolio of completed work, verifiable reviews, an active CSLB license and insurance, and a clear written process for scope, pricing and changes. 1 Degree Construction holds CSLB License #1075129 (B – General Building).

What types of projects does 1 Degree Construction specialize in?

New custom homes and Palisades rebuilds, whole-home remodels, and additions including ADUs, plus kitchen and bathroom remodels, usually as part of a design-build contract. Most of our work is on the Westside, from Santa Monica and Brentwood to Mid-City; as a general contractor in Los Angeles we also take select projects in the Valley.

Do you handle permits and design?

Yes. Design, engineering, Title 24 and permit processing can be included in your scope. Government and agency fees are listed separately in your proposal.

How long will my project take?

It depends on the scope, permits and material selections. During planning we provide a detailed schedule, and a dedicated project manager keeps every phase on track.
